Choosing Your Child's Health Care Provider

The health care provider you select for your newborn will play an important role in their development. This provider may be a pediatrician, a family doctor, physician assistant or pediatric nurse practitioner. Each one is qualified to provide the care and support your child will need as they grow.

To find the right provider for you, ask for recommendations from your obstetrician or from other parents. Then take the time to contact prospective health care providers to find the best fit for your family.  Be sure to ask the provider if they accept the insurance your baby will have to assure coverage.

Once you have found your child's provider, it's important to share your expected delivery date with them.

  • Deliveries at Alamance Regional: Once you have found your child's provider, share your expected delivery date with them so they can expect a newborn visit appointment soon after. Our pediatric doctors will care for your newborn while in the hospital.
  • Deliveries at Moses Cone: Share your expected delivery date with your child's provider so they can be available for your newborn’s pediatric care while you are at the hospital. If your provider does not provide in-hospital care, our pediatric doctors will care for your newborn while in the hospital.
