Using the Bulb Syringe

In the event your child starts choking, we recommend you keep a bulb syringe with you at all times, including in your diaper bag and in the corner of your baby’s crib.

As needed, you can use the bulb syringe to keep your baby’s nose and mouth clear of mucus. To properly use the syringe, use your hand to compress the bulb before you place the tip inside your baby’s nose or cheek. Slowly release the bulb to remove mucus, and repeat as needed.

Every day you use the bulb syringe, wash it inside and out with soapy water, rinse it with water, and sterilize it in boiling water for 10 minutes.
