Before You Head to the Hospital
You and your partner don't want to be scrambling when your baby decides it's time to see the world. Be prepared with these steps.
What to Pack For You and Your Support Person
To make it easy, we’ve created a checklist for what to pack for the hospital and what to leave at home.

If you forget something, there’s no need to worry. We have the following personal care items available:
- Bar soap
- Shampoo, conditioner and body wash
- Shower caps
- Combs
- Lotion
- Tooth brushes, toothpaste and mouthwash.
We also have washcloths, towels, gowns, robes, baby diapers (cloth) and baby t-shirts on hand.
Arrange a Car Seat
If you own two cars, it is a good idea to buy a seat for each vehicle. The car seat should be installed before coming to the hospital.
Have the car seat checked by a certified person. Go to buckleupnc.org for a list of community car seat safety checks and certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians in your area.
